Thompson Seattle Hotel Work Experience

YES2 student reflects on their positive work experience at the Thompson Seattle Hotel where they spent time working in many different areas of the hotel and felt like a true employee.

I had the absolute pleasure of interning at Thompson Seattle Hotel this summer. I worked in three different departments, housekeeping, the restaurant, and dishes/culinary. In housekeeping I helped Zeta in the Public Area. I enjoyed working with him a lot. He is an amazing teacher, and he always made my work experience very positive and fun. I didn’t know that housekeeping would be my favorite department when I started, but it was. I enjoyed the fact that I was moving all over the hotel, I enjoyed that part because I learned that I don’t enjoy staying in one place for a long period of time. In the restaurant I assisted the waiters, bussed tables, folded napkins, polished silverware, etc. I really liked the positive and fun environment in the restaurant; everyone was so kind and helpful. In culinary I did some dishwashing, and I also helped a lot with prepping food.  I chopped vegetables, washed lotus, ensembled slitters, etc. I really loved the environment and the people I worked with in culinary. I learned a lot of valuable skills and had an amazing time doing it.

In conclusion this summer’s job experience was amazing, I learned a lot and gained valuable skills. Everyone is amazing at the hotel, they were all so kind, caring, helpful, and patient with me. They made me feel like a true employee. I am grateful for the people I worked with and all they taught me. My supervisors, Sara and Rachel, were amazing. They always made sure I was comfortable, cared for, and happy. This work experience had such a positive impact on me, I’m now strongly considering moving to Seattle for a bit and working for them in my future. Again, I truly appreciate and thank everyone at the hotel for the amazing experience and skills they taught me.
