Orientation and Training Center Manager (WMS 02)

Seattle

The focus of this position is to lead the Orientation and Training Center (OTC), located in Seattle, into alignment with the agency's culture, work and processes, and to assist the agency, staff and customers in achieving expected outcomes. This position is responsible for managing the programs and all customer activity performed by the agency in the OTC for residential and commuting students. 

This position provides leadership for the Orientation and Training Center to:

  • Manage, grow and streamline residential program services to promote highest quality adaptive skills training and adjustment to blindness activities which provide agency customers a strong foundation for their job-readiness and vocational goals
  • Educate and incorporate the Agency cultural values within teams
  • Emphasize and encourage vocational context for all multidisciplinary team staff roles
  • Establish, review and revise agency and program procedure
  • Work to ensure staff continuously review and refine understanding of the subtle contexts of working in the field of disability
  • Fill all staff vacancies in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement, state HR requirements, needs of agency and local team, and agency values for diversity/disability representation among the workforce
  • Communicate staff performance expectations and conduct performance reviews and evaluations
  • Resolve and mediate conflict situations

The Orientation and Training Center contributes to the agency mission by providing intensive training and other experiences that empower students to increase their self-awareness, self-advocacy, alternative skills of Blindness, and employability to their maximum potential. The OTC annually provides assessment, adjustment to blindness, self-advocacy, adaptive skills of living and vocational training services to 60-100 Washington State residents who are Blind, Deaf Blind and Low Vision to gain competitive, integrated employment.

Vision Rehabilitation Specialist Senior - Traveling

Statewide

The Vision Rehabilitation Specialist - Senior Itinerant, analyzes and assesses the adaptive skills of customers with Blindness, Deaf-Blindness, and Low Vision for their activities of daily living and employment readiness.

As the Rehabilitation Teaching and Orientation & Mobility subject matter expert, the Vision Rehabilitation Specialist - Senior Itinerant applies superior emerging and evolving technologies and training methods to current and future customers and employers. They recommend and help develop the curriculum and implement training methodologies to customers and employers seeking to accommodate their staff in accordance with Section 508 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

This travelling position is unique in that it will provide intermittent training and support to customers across the state as case load and needs increase and support is necessary. This position also recruits, evaluates and manages vendors who provide specialized adaptive rehabilitation training and teaching to customers. It develops program standards related to Low Vision Evaluations, develops and monitors their budget for Low Vision kit and Adaptive Tools. It also provides adaptive education to businesses, customers, community partners, and employers.

Vision Rehabilitation Specialist – Senior (In-Training)

Lacey or Yakima

As a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist - Senior you will analyze and assess the adaptive skills of DSB participants with Blindness, Deaf-Blindness, and Low Vision for their activities of daily living and employment readiness. As the Rehabilitation Teaching and Orientation & Mobility subject matter expert, you will apply superior emerging and evolving technologies and training methods to solve current and future participants and employer needs. 

You will recommend and help develop the curriculum and implement training methods for participants - and employers seeking to accommodate their staff in accordance with Section 508 and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 

In these positions, you will also recruit, evaluate, and manage vendors who provide specialized adaptive rehabilitation training and teaching to participants.
