WTBBL White Cane Walk 2025

Event description

White Cane Day is just around the corner, and we are delighted to once again support with the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library (WTBBL) to spread awareness of the white cane - an invaluable tool of independence for people who are blind or visually impaired.

White Cane Day is a national observance in the United States, celebrated on October 15 of each year since 1964. The date is set aside to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of blindness and tool of independence, the white cane.

This year the Walk will begin at the Space Needle. Walkers should meet at south base of the Space Needle near the Howard S. Wright Memorial Fountain. The walk will end with speakers, a reception, and a vendor area at the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library.

Registration is highly recommended.

• 9:50 - Official Group Photo
• 10:00 - The Walk begins! 
• 10:45 - Speakers and reception at WTBBL
• 1:00 p.m. - Event ends

Cane drive

The "You Cane Give" Initiative is sponsoring a cane drive for this event! Wondering what to do with that old cane you no longer use in the closet? Is that drawer of used canes collecting dust and taking up space? Donate your old canes to the “You Cane Give” program and turn that old cane into newfound independence for individuals in need.
