Event description

The word Amerability with each letter mimicking the American flag with a blue field with white stars in the upper left corner. The rest of the letters have alternating red and white stripes. Below the name is the tagline: The MVP of Disability.

This fun and inclusive one-day workshop will focus on trying new music, drama, and recreation experiences adapted for their vision by industry professionals. Experiences are designed for participants who enjoy music, drama and recreation and to introduce younger participants to these activities.

Participants and families will

  • Advance skills in self-advocacy through training and mentoring
  • Explore new interest in music, drama and recreation
  • Learn about musical instrument options
  • Join fun singalongs and skits
  • Participate in blind activities like tennis and goalball.

Workshop goals

These experiences can help children

  • Increase balance, coordination and motor skill development
  • Build self-confidence by participating in sessions
  • Acquire skills in music, drama and adaptive recreation
  • Develop opportunities to set as goals around interests
  • Increase orientation and mobility through spatial awareness.
