FREE! This camp is free to DSB participants with an active VR case or who are qualified for Pre-ETS Services, ages 14-21. All transportation, meal, and lodging costs are included.

This camp is ideal for students who are Blind, Deaf-Blind or Low Vision, between the ages of 14 and 21, who are active participants of DSB VR or Pre-ETS Services.

The Amerability Entertainment Experience - Camp in Tri-Cities will focus on introducing participants to new and fun inclusive music / drama sessions that enable them to identify their journey into the Entertainment Industry with strong mentorship from industry professionals.

 

Workshop/Program Highlights

The Entertainment Experience is developed for participants who would like to work in the Entertainment Industry and participate in an ongoing program of Zoom mentoring from people working in these industries after the weekend workshop ends. These mentoring tools will help to continue participants progress in interviewing and presenting their brand, and meeting , industry specific mentoring and milestone achievements.

Planned activities include an overview of the industry, presentations by each participant to build confidence in interviewing and networking, developing resumes and cover letters for industry placement. Students also will learn about the various pathways to careers in the industry, and which would best meet their goals.

Participants will

  • Learn entertainment industry engagement strategies and networking.
  • Build self-confidence through presentations and collaboration sessions.
  • Work with industry professionals to gain skills and become more hirable.
  • Gain work experience through music and drama industry sessions.
  • Discuss specific pathways with Amerability mentors and develop a plan to move forward.

Amerability is an experienced DSB provider dedicated to creating unique and transformative opportunities for students across the State of Washington. Amerability staff bring their lived experience to students and these staff have a strong understanding of what it means to be Blind or Low Vision and to encourage participants to achieve their goals through actions and provide mentoring and coaching through the process of starting points to successful transition outcomes.

Space is limited! Please complete the online registration by Monday, March 17, 2025. 

This camp is ideal for students who are Blind, Deaf-Blind or Low Vision, between the ages of 14 and 21, who are active participants of DSB VR or Pre-ETS Services. Attendees need to be currently living in Washington State, enrolled in a Vocational Rehabilitation plan with Department of Services for the Blind, and between 14-21 years old, with blindness or low vision.
