SKILLS students meet a baby goat during a field trip to Heritage Farms. Two girls pet the goat while its trainer holds its leash. A third girl, holding a white cane, stands nearby.Skills Summer Camps for students age 9 to 13

The Department of Services for the Blind’s Youth Services Program is excited to bring you the Skills Camps, teaching independent living skills to young children.

Since 2009, this program has addressed the lack of summer programs available to elementary age children and has been designed to tackle these issues and to address skill areas contained within the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC). Camp activities are intended to correlate directly to the following areas of the ECC:

  • Independent Living
  • Social Interaction
  • Recreation and Leisure
  • Use of Technology
  • Self-determination

If you have (or know) a child or student who would benefit from this experience, please contact DSB Youth Services Manager to enroll in a Skills Camp this summer. They will make memories to treasure!
