Using a variety of ingredients, including secret ingredients, students will work together to create meals from scratch. 

Students will learn how to cook appetizers, main courses, and desserts. We will then enjoy these meals with visually impaired owner/operators of cafes and cafeterias in state and federal office buildings through DSB’s Business Enterprise Program (BEP). 

Our adult guests will share about their blindness and career journeys as well as what skills it takes to run and operate a business in the food service industry. 

The last session of the series will be the “chopped” completion. Using the skills they have learned throughout the series, students will pair up for a competition to create a special dish using provided supplies, including a special ingredient. Dishes will be judged on taste, presentation, how well the team worked together, cleanliness of their workspace after their dishes were created, and how they utilized all of their ingredients. The winners will receive prizes!
