Youth Services Sightless Self-Defense

An instructor shows a young woman how to use her cane during self defense. Join us for an Introduction to Self-Defense for blind and low vision students!

This 2-hour class is designed to increase individual awareness, and self-confidence through the practice of basic self-defense techniques and shared experience. A single class will not insure safety in all situations. However, it can provide a better understanding of how to avoid unnecessary danger and reduce the susceptibility to attack.

This class is taught by Certified Master Instructors Andy and Collette Arvidson who are 5th Degree Black Belts in the traditional Korean Martial Art of Soo Bahk Do®. They each have more than 20 years of experience in martial arts and have been providing instruction for students ages 4-90 with a variety of abilities and challenges. Andy Arvidson has been legally blind for more than 35 years, providing a personal understanding of how to share his expertise with the blind community.
