DSB’s Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) team is excited to invite students to attend the 2023 American Council of the Blind (ACB) National Convention and Convention in Schaumburg, Illinois from July 1 through July 7, 2023.
Attending the ACB Convention with the DSB Pre-ETS Team will support student transition from school and assist in identifying and successfully achieving future employment goals. At the conference, students will be able to explore opportunities with professional mentors and organizations and gain resources that will help facilitate a strong and informed pathway to their chosen career.
Highlights of this year’s convention workshops include:
- Interactive activities and breakout sessions focused on: assistive technology, health and wellness, mental health, and work readiness.
- The Youth Job Seminar & Job Fair.
- Community exploration.
- Mentors and accessibility advocates who are Blind, Low-Vision, or Deaf-Blind and leading the way in their professions.
ACB is one of the longest serving and largest organizations in the U.S. dedicated to supporting you in achieving success in your personal life as well as achieving professional goals. Cost
Applicants who are VR participants will have registration, lodging, airfare, and meals provided. Parents or guardians traveling with their youth under 18 years-old will also have their registration, lodging, airfare, and meals provided.
The ACB Convention offers a wide range of optional Convention Tours. DSB Pre-ETS participants (and parents/guardians) are welcome to take part in these tours, however, they will be responsible for tour-related fees and expenses.
