DSB Response to COVID-19

Dear DSB participants and families:

We at the Department of Services for the Blind hope you are all safe and well and doing whatever is necessary to protect yourselves and your family in these unprecedented times.

DSB acknowledges that there is only one effective tool that can reduce the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, which is reducing contact among people, or social distancing. For your safety, and for the safety of DSB staff and the greater community, we have reduced in-person meetings to only the most essential – for instance where someone’s job is at risk. For all other activities, staff have been instructed to find creative ways to convey them remotely, or to postpone activities.

DSB staff have been instructed to work from home. We have set phone calls to forward from office phones, and have tools in place to work remotely. Staff will be connecting with you to check in on how the COVID-19 response might be impacting your services, or what challenges you may be facing because of the social distancing rules throughout the community. We may have some resources to help address the issues you are experiencing. Throughout the duration of the COVID-19 response, please don’t hesitate to contact your counselor directly for support or information.
