Recently, the Washington State Auditor’s Office (SAO) announced a security incident involving a third-party software service vendor. Fortunately, only one DSB file was exposed in the incident, and that file does not contain any personally identifiable information for DSB clients or staff.
The incident, which occurred last month, may have exposed the personal and financial information of about 1.6 million Washingtonians who filed unemployment claims in 2020. The SAO will notify those whose unemployment related information may have been compromised. For more information, visit the State Auditor’s Office website, https://sao.wa.gov/breach2021/.
